Our Story

Hello and Welcome to Sowing Joy Farm!

Thank you for visiting, we look forward to working with you and getting to know you!

My husband(Chad) and I(Ondrea), 6 kiddos, and a granddaughter have had the blessing of living on a small farm in beautiful North Idaho. It’s my passion to make the best possible use of our land.  The best way I can think of is growing FLOWERS!  Why? Because the beauty and intricacy of flowers inspire me and make me happy.  I love observing the miracle of their existence and most of all the joy they bring to others.

I have grown in my love for gardening since childhood. While my friends were excited to hang out at the beach or mall, I begged for garden space. I have gardened continually in whatever space I could, from apartment balconies to backyards, and larger plots. Since moving to our farm in 2009, I have expanded little by little, but this year I am expanding big!

We are passionate about using organic farming practices.  I know the best way to grow a healthy plant is with healthy soil, so we amend our soil in healthy ways by using worm casings, organic compost, and seaweed. We control pests with our friendly flocks of ducks and chickens, and by introducing natural predators such as ladybugs and praying mantises. We keep bees on the property as well.

We are passionate about providing beautiful, healthy, and locally sourced flowers as gifts, for your homes, businesses, and weddings/events. A few of the many varieties we are growing include dahlias, sunflowers, stock, roses, larkspur, zinnias, phlox, sweet peas, peonies, lilacs, amaranth, celosia, basil, mint, sage, delphinium, cress, gladiola, godetia, and many more. Contact us for a list of weekly availability.

We are also passionate about giving back to our community. For every 20 bouquets, we sell we donate and deliver an arrangement to a local assisted living, hospital, or community organization. I believe everyone deserves to experience the joy of flowers.

I hope to get to know you and invite you to experience the joy we are sowing here on our farm.
